The Lazarus series came about as a reaction to the combination therapy for HIV / AIDS . They were done as millions of people living with AIDS and HIV were given a second chance at living. They were shown at The Boston Artists Foundation Gallery in a show that opened on World AIDS Day in 1998. The figures in these drawings are over six feet tall and stand within the confines of a cruciform.
